South Carolina Holds Onto Top Spot in Mid-Season NCEA Coaches Poll

RELEASE: November 28, 2012

Lexington, KY
-  The final coaches poll of the fall NCEA season was released Wednesday and, despite two losses heading into the winter break, South Carolina (4-2, 3-0 SEC) managed to hold onto the top spot. The Gamecocks started the season red hot by earning wins over Oklahoma State, Auburn, Georgia, and Texas A&M. It was that victory over Auburn (3-1, 2-1 SEC), on October 4th in Columbia, that likely gave South Carolina the edge with voters. Six of eleven first place votes went to the Gamecocks with the Tigers finishing second. Fellow SEC teams Georgia and Texas A&M  are tied for third.

The NCEA coahces poll top 10 teams are

1. South Carolina (103)
2. Auburn (99)
T-3. Georgia (68)
T-3. Texas A&M (68)
5. Oklahoma State (64)
6. Kansas State (63)
7. Baylor (59)
8. Texas Christian (35)
9. South Dakota State (21)
10. Southern Methodist (17)
