Paso Fino Horse Association Announces Executive Director Job Opening; Joins Forces with USEF to Enhance Member Services

RELEASE: March 19, 2010
AUTHOR/ADMINISTRATOR: Submitted by the PFHA

Lexington, KY—The Paso Fino Horse Association (PFHA) has announced a call for resumes in search of a new Executive Director. The position of PFHA Executive Director will have overall operational responsibility for the health, wellness, growth and financial viability of the association. The Executive Director carries forward and implements the strategic views of the PFHA Board of Directors. It is the responsibility of the Executive Director to ensure the association operates within the PFHA Constitution and Rule Book, as well as local, state and federal laws. This position has authority and responsibility for all PFHA employees and is accountable for the accomplishment of the mission of PFHA.

Minimum qualifications for the position include: at least 10 years experience in progressively increasing management and leadership responsibilities (including financial oversight, budgeting and execution); Bachelor’s degree and any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job; U.S. Citizenship; a valid driver’s license; possession of a U.S. Passport or the ability to acquire one; and ability to speak Spanish or the ability/desire to learn Spanish.

Full detail of the position can be found here. Those interested in applying for the position should review the attached document and submit a cover letter, resume and a minimum of three professional references via e-mail to PFHA Personnel Committee Chair Elizabeth Arledge at pfhajobs@gmail.com no later than March 31, 2010, or until the position is filled. Questions may also be submitted for clarification.

The new Executive Director will lead the PFHA as it outsources the association’s technology and customer service needs to the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF). A desire to provide the best customer service and promote the Paso Fino breed is at the heart of the new arrangement. The PFHA has announced it will relocate its office from Plant City, FL, to an office space in the Federation’s headquarters at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, in addition to an outsourcing transition.

This strategic approach makes great sense when taking into consideration the main objectives of the PFHA and the technological and customer service capabilities of the USEF. Consider it a “win-win” agreement.

According to Arledge, it’s about leveraging capabilities. “Taking advantage of some of the processes that USEF has in place right now is advantageous for us,” continues Arledge. “For our size, we want to outsource some processes and focus our own efforts on our core function—service to our members and the promotion of our breed.”
