2009/2010 The Chronicle of the Horse /United States Hunter Jumper Association International Hunter Derby Series Under Way

RELEASE: September 16, 2009
AUTHOR/ADMINISTRATOR: By Whitney Allen

The 2009/2010 The Chronicle of the Horse/United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) International Hunter Derby series is off to a great start with top-level classes being held throughout the country.

Many venues are experiencing an increase in exhibitors and spectators alike thanks to the efforts of show managers, course designers, the support of sponsors and the dedication of the High Performance Hunter Committee.

In its second year of competition, the International Derby Series is fortunate to have the support of title sponsor The Chronicle of the Horse. The internationally-recognized magazine has been covering the series since its inception in December 2007 and continues to bring a heightened awareness of the derbies to the industry.

Currently, 28 classes are scheduled to make up the 2009/2010 series but the USHJA is accepting applications for a limited number of classes to be held before June 2, 2010. If you are interested in hosting a derby, download an application at www.ushja.org/ihd/documents/DerbyApplication9109.pdf and fax it to the USHJA at (859) 258-9033. Applications are due October 1.

For a complete schedule of the 2009/2010 USHJA International Hunter Derby Classes, please visit the USHJA website at www.ushja.org/ihd/content/schedule/schedule0910.aspx.

Questions concerning the derby may be directed to Melanie Fransen at mfransen@ushja.org.
