There's Something for Everyone at the Fairfield County Hunt Club June Benefit Horse Show

RELEASE: June 18, 2008
AUTHOR/ADMINISTRATOR: By Phelps Media Group

The upcoming Fairfield County Hunt Club June Benefit Horse Show, June 24-28, 2008, on the grounds of the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport, CT, is filled with activities for the entire community to enjoy. The show is open to the public with no admission fees and features more than 700 riders competing in 200 classes over five days.

The show benefits The EQUUS Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) grant giving foundation that seeks to raise public awareness of the value of the horse in society through education and the award of grants to charities that use the horse to benefit the public, promote the health and welfare of horses, and elevate the equestrian sport as a whole.

Horse shows offer as much for spectators as the equestrians vying for the top honors, and the Fairfield show is no exception. Spectators and exhibitors can take a break from the action and browse through the shops in the Paddock Boutique.

The EQUUS Foundation will also operate a boutique throughout the week and a silent auction at its Saturday luncheon. The auction features getaways, chauffer services, gift certificates, luxury vacations, and many other wonderful items.

Special events will be held daily and include: "The Judge's View" on Monday with Walter Jimmy Lee offering an insight into how top horse show judges assess performance in the show ring; Pony Pals on Tuesday, a program for the Club's day camp; a Horseless Horse Show where children can jump a course of obstacles that mimics an actual show jumping competition and a Fashion Show featuring clothing by The Snappy Gator and jewelry by Lux, Bond & Green on Wednesday; the New Country Lexus of Westport Exhibitor Barbecue on Thursday; a Dog Obedience presentation by Sally Sizer of Dog Gone Smart on Friday along with a Cigar & Malt Scotch Tasting with M&M Cigars and SKYY Spirits. The show culminates with the EQUUS Benefit Luncheon & $25,000 Grand Prix presented by Wachovia Securities, LLC and George N. Venizelos on Saturday.

The show's generous individual and corporate sponsors will also be on hand to present awards to the winners of the 200 separate equestrian competitions.

For additional information, contact The EQUUS Foundation, Inc., 168 Long Lots Road, Westport, CT 06880, or telephone (203) 259-1550, or equusfoundation@aol.com, or visit the EQUUS website at www.equusfoundation.org.
