G10 Eventing Summit Audio Broadcast Live on USEventing.com

RELEASE: December 6, 2007
AUTHOR/ADMINISTRATOR: By Amy Daum

If you aren’t fortunate enough to attend this year’s United States Eventing Association's Annual Meeting and Convention, presented by Nutrena, in Colorado Springs, you can still listen in on the action at the pinnacle forum: the G10 Summit. The USEA’s Group of 10 (G10), a day-long national forum for the ten Areas of the United States, will be held on Saturday, December 8, beginning at 8 a.m. MST. Check out the convention schedule on the USEA Convention webpage for exact times for each section, and remember that speakers will be presenting all day, until approximately 3:30 p.m., so you’re sure to catch something.

The G10 Eventing Summit will focus on a broad range of eventing issues faced by every member—competitors, organizers, owners, officials, and volunteers. The leaders of eventing in the U.S. will be on hand to develop with the membership workable solutions to problems, brainstorm ideas and plan for implementation of those solutions and ideas. Malcolm Hook will kick off the G10 Summit with "Where Do We Go From Here?" United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) President and Sydney Olympic Individual Gold medalist David O’Connor will then host the first session of the day covering the results achieved so far by the special International Equestrian Federation (FEI), USEF and USEA committees reviewing the sport, both internationally and nationally.

A highlight of the meeting will be a visit from Irish international rider Eric Smiley. Smiley is a Fellow of the British Horse Society, an honor limited to only a few of the best riders and instructors in the world.

Hosted and moderated by Kevin Baumgardner, USEA Executive Secretary, representatives of the following constituencies will present three or four key points arising out of their meetings during the previous days: Darren Chiacchia and Gina Miles—Professional Riders; Jan Byyny and Tim Murray—Young Riders/Juniors; Patte Clement—Adult and Amateur Riders; Penny Ross—Organizers; John Strassburger—Conservation of Land for Eventing; Karen O’Connor and Sue Hershey—ICP Instructors.
