2008 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, Presented by Farnam, Named One of Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events for the Month of April

RELEASE: November 29, 2007
AUTHOR/ADMINISTRATOR: By Classic Communications

The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, presented by Farnam, has once again been designated one of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events for the month of April. The event was recognized by an elite tourism industry selection committee for offering outstanding entertainment value to groups as well as to individual travelers from around the world.

“We are proud to continue our commitment to providing outstanding entertainment as well as world-class equestrian competition,” said Event Director Jane Atkinson. “The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, presented by Farnam, has been recognized as a magnet for tourism dollars. The honor gives the event an important boost in visibility among professional tour planners.”

Since 1985 the Southeast Tourism Society has published the Top 20 Events. The best events across the Southeast compete to receive the prestigious Top 20 designation. Through a nomination process, the Southeast Tourism Society chooses the Top 20 events going on in the Southeast for each month of the year, and publishes this list of winners quarterly. To be nominated for a Top 20 Event, an event must be at least in its third year and must have a minimum attendance of 1,000.

The only four-star event in the Western Hemisphere, the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, presented by Farnam, attracted a record attendance in 2007 of 96,478 over its four days, including a record 46,922 on cross-country day. The competition features this country’s best horses and riders and international stars vying for their share of $200,000 in prize money and a chance at the $250,000 Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing. The winning owner is awarded $65,000 and the winning rider receives a Rolex timepiece. The classic Kentucky Julep Cup is presented by Equestrian Events, Inc., to the winning owner and winning rider as a reminder of their accomplishment.
