The annual Animal Planet Kids’ Day at the Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows returns again this year, combining kids, horses and tons of fun. The Lake Placid Horse Shows will be held at the North Elba Showgrounds in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains of Lake Placid, NY, June 26–July 8, 2007.
Animal Planet Kids’ Day is scheduled for Friday, July 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and will include activities such as a stable tour, jumper course walk, farrier visit and question-and-answer seminar on safety in and out of the ring. There will also be a raffle, giveaways and an autograph session with a top grand rix rider. The day continues a long-standing tradition of the Lake Placid Horse Shows giving back to the local community.
“Since its inception, Kids’ Day has become one of Lake Placid’s most beloved traditions,” said Lori Martin, Lake Placid Horse Show Association Executive Director. “It brings local families together through their participation in the many activities at the horse show and provides opportunities for children to meet and learn from some of the world’s best equestrians.”
The cost to attend the event is $5.00 per participant, and lunch will be included. There is no entry fee for chaperones; however, there will be a fee of $3.00 per chaperone if they choose to eat with the participants. Reservations are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participants must belong to a local 4-H group or pony club.
The event is limited to a maximum of 100 participants. All participants must be members of a horse or pony club and must be attending the event in conjunction with that club. Entry forms may be obtained by contacting the horse show office at (518) 523-9625.
Event supporters include Janet and Wayne Rasmussen of The Country Saddler, Marty Bauman of Classic Communications, Patti Fowler of On A Fence Designs and Rentals, Pizza Hut, Woodlea Farms and Crossroads Caterers.
Continuing its most important tradition, the 2007 Lake Placid Horse Shows will once again host world-class equestrian action, including two American Grandprix Association (AGA) Series events—the $75,000 Budweiser Grandprix of Lake Placid CSI*** Presented by RV Sales of Broward on Sunday, July 1, and the $75,000 Hermès Grandprix CSI*** on Saturday, July 7. Both grand prix events are FEI-sanctioned, offering riders the opportunity to earn valuable points on the international rider rankings.
In addition to its two grand prix, the Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows also offer North American League, Washington International Horse Show, World Champion Hunter Rider, and Show Jumping Hall of Fame Series classes.
