- There were USEF funded showjumpers at three different European horse shows over the weekend of June 1-3 and strong performances were turned in at each venue.
The highlight of the weekend was US riders winning classes in two different countries on Saturday.
At the CSIO in St. Gallen, Switzerland, May 31-June 3, the US Team was third in the Samsung Super League Nation’s Cup on Friday. The next day at St. Gallen Richard Spooner and Ace jumped their way to top honors in the LGT Preis. This pair was the fastest in the jump off by four seconds. Spooner also picked up the leading rider title at St. Gallen by adding two second place finishes and a fourth to his accolades.
Beezie Madden ended up in a tie for second place on the leading riders list after placing sixth in the Grand Prix with Authentic, winning the Preis der Metzgerei Gemperli with Onlight and finishing second in two other classes over the weekend.
Laura Kraut and Todd Minikus rounded out the Nation’s Cup squad and had top ten individual placings throughout the weekend. Lisa Silverman was also in St. Gallen and rode Obelix R in the Grand Prix. St. Gallen was the last stop on the first leg of the Samsung Super League which picks up again in Rotterdam, Holland on June 20.
286 kilometers away in Germany, three riders who are part of the USEF’s Developing Young Rider’s Tour showcased their talents at CSI3* Pforzheim, June 1-3. Georgina Bloomberg, Brianne Goutal, and Eliza Shuford all represented the US.
The highlight of this competition was Goutal’s win with Onira on Saturday in the Preis der Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw. Shuford was third in the Grand Prix with B.C.O. Olymp and Bloomberg took home three ribbons.
At the CSI2* in Wisbecq, Belgium, June 1-2, both Sarah Segal and Katherine Miracle picked up top ten ribbons over what proved to be a very busy and productive weekend for the US Show Jumping Squad.
The USEF’s Developing Young Riders Tour (Goutal, Bloomberg, Shuford, Segal and Miracle) will head to CSIO’s in Hamina, Finland and Drammen, Norway in two weeks under the guidance of Chef d’ Equipe Melanie Smith Taylor.
