RELEASE: July 22, 2013
AUTHOR/ADMINISTRATOR: Phelps Media Group, Inc. International

Buffalo, NY
- The Buffalo International Horse Show will host its 67th annual hunter/jumper competition this fall at the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center. The show will be held from September 11-15, 2013 in downtown Buffalo, NY. The show will take place in the indoor arena of the Buffalo Equestrian Center, the home of the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center (BTRC) and SBS Farms, Inc. The Buffalo International Horse Show (BIHS) is known for its large variety of hunter and jumper divisions, including their great prize money and promising competition. The BIHS is the most prominent fundraiser of the year for the BTRC, with all proceeds benefiting their therapeutic riding program. The prize list is now available on Ryegate.com.

The five-day schedule features highlights for everyone to enjoy, including $40,000 in class prize money with over $13,000 worth of hunter and jumper classics for children, adults, juniors, amateur-owners, ponies and professionals.

Hunter riders can look forward to the $3,000 Johnson Horse Transportation USHJA National Hunter Derby, a two-round competition open to all riders, horses and ponies to be held on Saturday night. Competitors will also have the opportunity to showcase their skills during the $500 "Shogun" Adult Amateur Hunter Classic, as well as the $500 "Say Hey" Children's Hunter Horse Classic, and the $500 Children's Hunter Pony Classic. Other highlights for hunter riders include the $1,000 "Scribbles" Pony Hunter Classic, and the $1,000 Johnson Horse Transportation Silver Stirrup Classic. Junior riders will have the opportunity to compete in the $1,000 Up The Creek Farm Junior Hunter Classic and Amateur riders will have the chance to compete in the $1,000 "The Full Monty" Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic.

This will be the first year that the Buffalo International Horse Show will host the $1,500 Robert-James Sales, Inc. USHJA Pre-Green Incentive, donated by Mr. and Mrs. James Bokor, Jr. All exhibitors interested in competing in this class must have been enrolled in the USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Program and must be registered with the USHJA and recorded with the USEF. BIHS will also welcome riders to compete in the $1,000 Robert-James Sales, Inc. Thoroughbred Hunter Section, also donated by the Bokor family.

Equitation riders will have the chance to showcase their talents in the Syracuse PHA Medal Equitation classes. The classes will test riders over an intricate course, and at the judges' discretion possibly include a test. Along with the PHA Medal Equitation classes, equitation riders will also be able to compete in the USEF/Pessoa Hunter Seat Medal, presented by Randolph College, the ASPCA Horsemanship class, WIHS Equitation Classic hunter and jumper phases, the Platinum Performance USEF Talent Search, the WIHS Pony Equitation and the Taylor Harris Insurance Services National Children's Medal.

Jumper riders will also have the opportunity to showcase their talent and compete for excellent prize money during the five-day horse show. The Children's and Adult Amateur Jumper schedule features a $2,500 Stephen A. Comunale Children's/ Adult Amateur Jumper Classic. The Low Children's and Adult Amateur Schedule also features a $1,000 Stephen A. Comunale Low Children's/ Adult Amateur Jumper Classic.

The very popular $1,000 Ravenswood Grooms Class will also return as a favorite for the grooms of the varying riders, bringing back an old tradition as the grooms present their mounts and boxes for the judges
