Georgina Bloomberg started out in the pony hunter ring at age six. She successfully competed in the hunters until 2000 when she bought her first jumper.
After graduating from the junior ranks in 2001, she turned her attention to the jumpers exclusively and was rewarded by winning two Gold medals at the North American Young Riders’ Championships (Team Gold in 2002 with Riviera and Individual Gold in 2003) and winning the 2001 USET Talent Derby.
Bloomberg won the Maxine Beard Award in 2004, as well as the Derby of Drammen. In 2005, she won two WEF Challenge Cups at the Winter Equestrian Festival, the $50,000 Las Vegas Invitational Knockout competition, and competed at the FEI World Cup Finals. She also was a member of the first U.S. winning Samsung Super League team in La Baule, France, that same year.
In 2007, she won another WEF Challenge Cup and was a member of the winning U.S. Super League teams in Hamina, Finland, and Falsterbo, Sweden, where she contributed her first double clear Nations Cup performance. She also was fourth in the Queen’s Cup at Hickstead and the highest-placed American in the Dublin Grand Prix, finishing in seventh place.
In the winter of 2008, Bloomberg won the $30,000 CN Jumper Stake at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Florida. She spent the summer of 2008 competing in Europe. She had two significant wins at CSI 3* Norten-Hardenburg in the 1.45 meter class and the young horse 1.30 meter class.
In 2009, Bloomberg rode many different horses to strong finishes up and down the East Coast. In January, on Mila she was fourth in the $50,000 Braman Motorcars Grand Prix at WEF. With Street of Diamonds, Bloomberg captured the $30,000 WEF Challenge Cup Round VIII. In August, Bloomberg won an Open Jumper class at the Hampton Classic with the Hanoverian Fiedi 3.
Bloomberg kicked off 2010 with a win in Round 1 of the WEF Challenge Cup Series with Metropolitan. In Round 5 of the WEF Challenge Cup Series, Bloomberg was ninth on Street of Diamonds. With Midtown Du Tillard, she finished fourth in the $25,000 Bahamas Eco Grand Prix in April. A month later, Bloomberg placed fifth in the $40,000 Old Salem Grand Prix with Metropolitan. Only a week later, the pair won the $75,000 Empire State Grand Prix. With Radio City, she placed second in the CSI 4* Table A at Spruce Meadows. Bloomberg rode Fiedi 3 to a fourth place finish in the CSI 5* Nexen Derby at Spruce Meadows in June. In Kentucky, the pair went on to win the Bluegrass Festival Grand Prix CSI 2*. At the Hampton Classic, Bloomberg rode Metropolitan to a third place finish in the $50,000 Spy Coast Farm Grand Prix Qualifier CSI 4*.
Bloomberg started off 2011 competing at the Winter Equestrian Festival. At WEF 8, Bloomberg and Louis K2 finished third at the $25,000 ESP Jumper Stake. The pair finished ninth at the $40,000 Old Salem Farm Grand Prix later in the year. With Metropolitan, Bloomberg placed tenth in the $25,000 Spring 4 Grand Prix.
Bloomberg started a charity program called The Rider’s Closet that collects used riding clothes and donates them to intercollegiate riding programs, pony clubs, and riders who cannot afford to buy riding clothes.
