Cecilia Butler-Stasiuk grew up on a small horse ranch in Humble, TX, where her mother, acclaimed endurance competitor Darolyn Butler, taught her to ride and care for the horses. She started competing in the sport of endurance horse racing at age 4. Ceci entered her first 100-mile race at age 6 and won her first 100-mile race at the same age.
Ceci has logged more than 11,000 competitive endurance miles.
Ceci is a four-time National Endurance Champion (two 50-mile, and two 100-mile), competed in the Pan-American Championship, rode in the Junior World Championship in Italy and has competed around the world.
Her mother’s ranch grew into a thriving trail ride business where Ceci worked with the public guiding trail rides, giving lessons, as well as training endurance race horses. She has spent many hours on the ground working with young horses breaking and training them.
In recent years, Ceci has competed a number of horses her mother owns as well as her own. On her mother’s Arabian gelding, DJB Cytron Kin JMF, Ceci won the FEI 160km CEI3* at the 2010 Florida Horse Park Gallop on the Greenway. Also in 2010, she won the 120km ride at the Git R Done II competition on DJB K de Cielo, another horse that belongs to her mother.
On her own Arabian mare, Ceci completed the CEI2* and the 2009 Shine and Shine Only in August 2009.
Ceci also exercises Thoroughbred race horses for Pic Burns in Oklahoma. Ceci and her husband, Jason, run their Texas Sport Horse business out of Cleburne, TX.
